LEAP-1A/-1B Engines

Elevating Efficiency & Sustainability in the Next Generation of Commercial Aviation

cfm-LEAP_02_(1)

The LEAP (Leading Edge Aviation Propulsion) engine family represents the latest evolution in high-bypass turbofan technology, developed by CFM International—a 50/50 joint venture between GE Aerospace and Safran Aircraft Engines. Designed to deliver double-digit improvements in fuel efficiency, emissions, and noise reduction, the LEAP engine is offered in three variants, with thrust ratings ranging from 23,000 to 32,000 lb. The primary LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B variants power the newest single-aisle aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, with the LEAP-1C was developed for COMAC. The LEAP-1A is the exclusive engine option for the Airbus A320neo family (A319neo/A320neo/A321neo), while the LEAP-1B is uniquely designed for the Boeing 737 MAX series (-7/-8/-9/-10).

Pem-Air brings deep technical expertise and a forward-looking approach to LEAP engine maintenance, supporting operators as they transition to this new generation of propulsion systems.

Pem-Air provides specialized MRO capabilities for the following LEAP engine variants:

LEAP-1A

Powers the Airbus A320neo family, offering up to 15% better fuel efficiency compared to previous-generation engines.

LEAP-1B

Exclusively designed for the Boeing 737 MAX family, optimized for aerodynamic integration and operational efficiency, delivering approximately 15% lower fuel burn than its predecessor.

Pem‑Air is actively expanding its full suite of LEAP engine MRO capabilities, while already providing select services to support operators today. Our team is equipped with the latest tooling and digital diagnostics, enabling us to deliver precision and care across the services we currently provide. From targeted inspections and limited on‑wing support to specialized maintenance tasks, we collaborate closely with our clients to minimize downtime and reduce operational costs. As our capabilities continue to grow toward comprehensive performance restoration and full overhaul capacity, we remain committed to ensuring optimal reliability, cost efficiency, and long‑term operational excellence for LEAP engines.
