Engine Testing

Cost-Efficient
Engine Testing

Pem-Air offers comprehensive On-wing testing services. We perform Maximum Power Assurance (MPA) runs for most engine types. Our services can be done in the field, as well as at our facility in Brooksville (BKV) if the aircraft is flown in. Our dedicated GE powered 767 aircraft allows us to support your engines in real time as they are completed in our shop.

On-wing engine test runs serve a variety of purposes such as:

  • Maximum Power Assurance checks to verify that the engine is capable of producing the required thrust levels.
  • Balance and vibration measurements to verify and, if necessary, re-balance the engine rotors.
  • Oil and fuel system tests.
  • Leakage checks to verify that all systems are free of leakage.

Advantages of on-wing engine testing, where applicable, are:

  • Avoidance in the cost associated with test cell operation, maintenance, instrumentation and personnel.
  • Reduced handling of the engine, resulting in further cost reduction.
  • Related aircraft systems, including fuel, hydraulic, and electrical, can be simultaneously checked.

Engine Test Cell Testing

In contrast, off-wing testing is applicable when an engine has undergone more extensive repairs or overhaul in the engine shop. Here, more extensive tests are required to ensure that the engine is fit for operation again. For these more extensive test procedures, Pem-Air customers can rely on our off-site test cell partner network engine tests.

Don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss our on-wing engine testing services.
We’d love to help you ensure your jet engines are ready for take-off.
